this week i made three shortlists in a row.
i lost them all.
and tonight.
i found out that i won a filmaka contest.
so i guess it's one of the occasions when my incurable optimism does pay off.
lalalalala

is it campy enough for you? is it an all-gay boy-band? (redundancy in terms?) 70's porn? dinner at butch's?
depicted in the photo, the most radical part of studiosex, enjoying their break. please notice the very special camera mount,custom-designed for special positions. also pay close attention to the eerie greenish light and the flying saucer hovering in the b.g.
And some screen grabs from my latest video, to be launched sometime in December.
Radar Commission Finished: Manda Rin, "Guilty Pleasure" (dir Alex de Campi)

And now for something completely different...After all the drama and high cinematic art of the (still pre-release) "Leeds United" and "Last Words" videos, me and the gang wanted to cut loose and do something silly and irresponsible. Luckily, Manda Rin, quite literally one of the nicest people I have ever met, hearts the silly and wholeheartedly embraced the idea of a cheeky, J-pop-style innuendo-fest with VERY. BRIGHT. COLOURS. Hope you will too.
Feast or Famine on the Plain

Too many parties this weekend. We're making our main business out of shooting parties and cutting promos for organizers around Tokyo. It's really sweet because we just stroll into any old VIP section that we want at any old party. Last Thursday, we shot a 2000+ people/five stories of a building rented Halloween party. Lots of fantastic costumes and a great energy.
Anyway, we're doing another party tonight. It's a slightly smaller affair. But, the same organizer.
Aviv Geffen Roundhouse filming

First thing's first. While it may look like this is a 3-camera shoot, it's just 2 cameras.
This was my first (official) live filming and commision and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
At first I just read briefs as they came up, not really thinking of applying for any.
Just thought of the site to be a great idea so I followed the happenings on it.
But when I read the brief for this one, I had an idea that I wanted to try, and if the idea was liked, well, maybe I could actually do it.
Great News, Good News, and One Alert

1) Great News! Someone finally gave me a reason to watch the Take On Me video 6 dozen more times. This has been making its rounds on Our Lovely Internet, so maybe you've seen it already. There's also one for Head Over Heels. It has its moments, but nothing quite so epic as the phrase 'ass-full of pipe-wrench'.
2) Work has been picking up in Tokyo, mostly in anticipation of the Halloween weekend. There are a bunch of parties, parades, and costume contests and we'll be covering as many as we can fit in our schedule. Halloween is, truth be told, my favorite holiday.
Boom-dee-yada

A friend of mine just introduced me to this clip. It amped me up pretty bad, so I thought I would share it. Steven Hawking is one of my heroes. So, to see him in it made me really really happy. Had they access, I imagine they would have invited my other big hero, Abraham Lincoln. But, I guess the timing just wasn't right on this production.

Skeleton Crew Gone A-shooting

Tomorrow we're shooting a new video for an easy-going love song with a touch of electro . It's partly live action, partly animation.
These Are The Last Words...

My last few weeks in London were extremely tough, to the point of nervous breakdown. Quite literally every project I was working on (and at the high point, it was about five at once) went wrong in some way, and I personally lost a fairly hefty amount of money on two videos going over budget. I don't really want to talk about it, because it would involve me saying things that might hurt other people's feelings.
